Let's Explore Fleeting Spiritual Moments, Peripheral Sight, Grounded Witchcraft Practices, And...
... Step into the subtle spaces where magic and perception meet, with Jess from La Loba & Lunara.
I have experienced much over the years of my witchcraft practices. Not just the witchy rituals and spell makings I share, but most of it is much more in depth. A depth that has meaning and allows me to remain grounded within a community that can at times, feel quite competitive with, "who is the witchiest witch of them all" kind of vibes. Although I must say it is not often... thank the God's.
I would like to share one of these moments with you. And it is a small moment, from the other day. This not a proclamation, not a message carved and set in stone. It is just a whisper of an experience that’s stayed with me. And now I share with you.
I have recently been emerging from quite a stressful season of late, and while I was finally at ease, with my music playing, hands busy crafting, and painting in my Witches Hut out in the back garden... I begin to notice faint flickers of light, shadow, and movement, coming and going, and dancing at the edges of my vision. The kind you notice without trying. The kind that makes you pause and look. Yet each time I stopped and looked directly, there was nothing there. So I just carried on. No fear. No urgency. Just grounded awareness.
I felt deeply calm. Connected. Rooted in my body and my creativity. The music stirred me emotionally, as it often does (I’ve always been sensitive to sound, vibration, and lyrics) but the space around me felt gentle, almost hushed. And then, just as quietly as it appeared, the experience faded. And it hasn’t returned since.
Now, many of us witches believe that when the veil thins ... especially during times of emotional openness, creativity, or deep presence ... we may notice things more readily, such as:
☆ Spirits passing through.
☆ Ancestors brushing close.
☆ Guides lingering at the edge of awareness.
I won’t pretend that thought didn’t cross my mind. Of course it did, this is me after all, and when you live the life of a witch, you walk with one foot in the seen world and one in the unseen, those type of interpretations live close to the surface for most experiences.
But strangely enough, what has actually stayed with me most, isn’t the what was it, who is trying to contact me ect it was actually the feeling that vibrated through me and stayed.
The reassurance.
That sense of being gently held in the moment.
And I’m learning that spiritual mind body reassurance doesn’t always need a label or a name to explain it. Labels like, it is my guides or spirits trying to contact me. This is not neccessary in order for the moment to be sacred. Sometimes it’s our own magic rising when we finally soften. Sometimes it’s the body and spirit settling together, whispering, you are safe now… you can breathe.
It is your nervous system resetting after a stressful time.
You know, there is a quiet kind of witchcraft in simply noticing without having to grasp meaning. There is a calmness when you are no longer chasing the spiritual signs, no longer demanding a meaning, and not throwing doors open just because something brushed the veil of perception. Just to gently observe, to ground, and to return to what we’re creating feels deeply powerful to me. It is rooted magic. And that is a balanced magic. The kind that honours mystery without losing ourselves to it.
I felt I needed to share this, as it may resonate with other witches, sensitive souls, or creative folk. Those who have been moving through heavy times and are just beginning to feel the thinning ... the lightness ... the return to themselves. And that any funny light or movement in your peripheral vision, is your nervous system reset after a stressfull season. I think it is powerful to know that not everything has to have a witchy spooky vibe, that it isn't always an external force/energy. It is simply your beautiful self relaxing and experiencing a reset 🌿🌙✨️
Tell me sacred soul. Have you ever experienced something subtle and fleeting like this during a calm or creative moment, especially when the veil feels thin? I’d love to hear how others interpret those gentle in-between spaces. You can share in the comments below.
As always, Stay Saged Witches
